Serolsar Lake, a popular trek from Jalori Pass near Jibhi

Things to do in Jibhi

Jibhi packs an outsized amount into a small valley — an alpine pass, a sacred lake, a turquoise river spot and one of the Himalayas' tallest old towers, all within a short drive or hike.

Jalori Pass

At about 3,120 m (10,236 ft), Jalori Pass is the gateway to the valley's best day hikes, roughly 12–14 km from Jibhi by road. The meadow at the top is the trailhead for both Serolsar Lake and Raghupur Fort.

Serolsar Lake & Budhi Nagin temple

An easy-to-moderate 5 km trek (one way) from Jalori top through oak and rhododendron forest leads to this calm glacial lake at around 3,100 m, with a small shrine to the local deity Budhi Nagin on its bank. Allow 4–5 hours return.

Raghupur Fort

Another trail from Jalori (about 6 km one way) climbs to the ruins of a 17th-century fort, with sweeping views over the Kullu valley. No permit needed.

Jibhi Waterfall

A short, easy 20–30 minute walk through pine forest from the village centre (about 2 km) reaches this multi-tiered fall and its cool pools — an ideal half-day outing.

"Mini Thailand" (Kulhi Katandi)

Locally called Kulhi Katandi, this river spot a 10–15 minute walk from the village has clear turquoise water flowing between big mossy boulders. The "Mini Thailand" nickname is just tourist shorthand for the scenery.

Chehni Kothi

About 22 km away near Banjar, this stone-and-timber Kath-Kuni tower stands roughly 45 m tall — among the tallest surviving structures of its kind in the Western Himalayas — after the 1905 Kangra earthquake reduced its original height. A short uphill walk leads up to it.

Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP)

A UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Tirthan-zone entry is at Sai Ropa, about 30–35 km from Jibhi near Gushaini. Day walks in the ecozone are accessible with a permit; the core zone needs advance arrangement.

Trout fishing on the Tirthan

The Tirthan is stocked with brown and rainbow trout. Angling runs roughly March–October (the river is closed in winter for spawning). Day permits (around ₹300) come from the HP Fisheries office in Banjar or Larji; rod-and-line only.

Shringa Rishi Temple

A three-tiered Kath-Kuni pagoda temple in Baggi village (about 16–18 km via Banjar), dedicated to one of the Kullu valley's chief deities, with a large annual fair in May.

Most of these are easy day trips from the village. Find a base close to the action, or pick your stay by budget.
